Glycine Supplement Information
Glycine is an amino acid that is produced naturally in the body. It is also found in many foods and can be taken as a dietary supplement. These supplements are claimed to be useful for a variety of different conditions, such as:
- Schizophrenia
- Strokes
- Memory problems
- An enlarged prostate (also known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH).
Information about glycine should be carefully reviewed before you start treatment. For example, while most people tolerate the supplements well, they can cause side effects. Some of the possible reactions include nausea, vomiting, and mild drowsiness. In addition, let your healthcare provider know if you have schizophrenia, any allergies, or are pregnant.
